A Morning In Muir Woods
A small part of our vacation in California last month included a morning in Muir Woods. Located north of San Francisco, just a short drive across the Golden Gate Bridge, is Muir Woods.
It was a rainy Saturday morning when we visited, and still very crowded. (I can’t imagine how crowded it is on a pretty day) We spent about an hour walking around the paved trail. I took some photos. We looked at some redwoods. It was an enjoyable morning.
However, I think Muir Woods is overrated. After being there for about 10 minutes I felt like I had seen it all. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a beautiful park, but I think there are a lot of pretty places to see redwoods and it just didn’t live up to my expectations.
I would suggest going if you have not seen redwoods before, so you can experience the size and beauty of the redwoods. If you’ve seen them before, or have no interest in seeing them, then skip it. Especially if you hate crowds. We only walked the main trail since it was raining. There are plenty of hiking trails in the park that I think would have been nice to explore if we had more time and less rain.
California is filled with so much beauty. I can’t wait to share my recent adventures over the next few weeks! (You can subscribe to The Wander Guide to stay in the loop!) I’m hoping to get back in the routine of blogging more often, especially now that fall photography sessions are slowly winding down.
