Weekend at Lake Norman
Kyle, the dogs, and I drove out to Denver, North Carolina to spend the weekend at Lake Norman. We rented out this lake house with Staci and Lisa (and Staci’s dog, Moose) for two nights. The entire area was SO beautiful. The lake house was a little dated on the inside but the outdoor property was so gorgeous. The property owners have two houses for rent right next door to their home and we were able to walk the property at the other house since no one rented it this weekend. It was easier for the dogs to get in the water over there. All the dogs had THE BEST TIME. We spent our time playing in the water with the dogs, hanging out in and by the lake, playing bocce ball in the yard, playing card games, fishing, and, most importantly, relaxing.
It was an excellent weekend.
Lake Norman is about a four hour drive from Knoxville, which makes it a doable option for a weekend getaway. We ended up choosing Lake Norman because it was halfway between us and where Staci and Lisa are working for their travel nursing assignment. The last few weeks of summer are exceptionally nice at the lake.
It’s so much fun to explore new places. Especially those a little different from the norm and within driving distance from Knoxville. It makes for a simple and easy adventure. I fully intend to soak up these last couple of weeks of summer and see what over adventures we can have. I promised Kyle a camping trip this year, so we’ll see where we end up going. I’m not typically a camping person. Although, I’m not really a lake person, either, but I think that’s changed after this weekend. Life spent outdoors is just better.
I decided to leave my camera at home this weekend but I did take a bunch of pictures with my phone. Here are some of my favorites.
