6 Day Trips From Knoxville That You Need To Take

#1 – Nashville

Drive Time: 3 hours from Knoxville

Nashville is so much fun! It’s a big city with lots of events going on all the time. The restaurant and bar scene in Nashville is fantastic: you’re sure to find some good eats here. Broadway St, The Gultch, and East Nashville are some of my favorite areas in the city. Music, shopping, art, food, and a plenty of beautiful nearby parks to explore, Nashville has something for everyone.

#2 – Atlanta

Drive Time: 3 hours from Knoxville

Atlanta is an awesome city with events and concerts happening on the regular. The High Museum Of Art, Georgia Aquarium, and the World Of Coca-Cola are just a few of the many things you can fill your day with in Atlanta. There are some amazing shopping areas and fabulous restaurants in Atlanta too.

#3 – Chattanooga

Drive Time: 1 hour 45 minutes from Knoxville

Chattanooga is similar to Knoxville in that way that it’s a quirky and fun city! The Tennessee Aquarium, Creative Discovery Museum, and the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum are a few of the main attractions in the city. There are also a ton of great outdoorsy things to do near Chattanooga, like Lookout Mountain and Ruby Falls. My favorite thing to do in Chattanooga is to walk around downtown and find a local restaurant to enjoy a nice meal.

#4 – Asheville

Drive Time: 2 hours from Knoxville

Asheville is a great spot for beer lovers, creatives, and outdoor enthusiasts. Sierra Nevada Brewery is located here, which is an experience in and of itself, and there are dozens of local Asheville Breweries to visit, too. There are also so many beautiful places to hike nearby, including the Blue Ridge Parkway, Pisgah National Forest, and Max Patch. And, if you have never been, Biltmore is an awesome place to visit.

#5 – Tri-Cities

Drive Time: 2 hours from Knoxville

The Tri-Cities consists of Kingston, Bristol, and Johnson City, TN, and is a fun place to visit for a day. (Or even a weekend getaway.) It’s the perfect destination for an outdoorsy, low key day. A few attractions are the Virginia Creeper Trail (located slightly North into Virginia), Hiking (Hawksbill Mountain Trail or the Rough Ridge Trail are both great options), and enjoying a brew at Yee-Haw Brewing or a cider at Gypsy Circus Cidery.

#6 – Louisville

Drive Time: 3 hours 30 minutes from Knoxville

Louisville is a fun and interesting city to visit for a day. The Kentucky Bourbon Trail is a major attraction of the city and nearby towns. (Maker’s Mark is a great distillery to visit, if you only have time for one.) Besides bourbon, Louisville has quite a few museums and outdoor trails. You can also spend time walking, shopping, and eating at 4th Street Live.
