House Mountain Hike

I kept hearing about House Mountain for weeks and decided I had to check it out. (Somehow I have lived in Knoxville my whole life and never been here?) House Mountain is only about 30 minutes outside of downtown Knoxville so it’s an easy day trip. Kyle and I packed up the two pups and we were off to have fun on our House Mountain hike.

Getting there was pretty easy. There is a sketchy looking homemade sign that says “House Mountain” with an arrow, just follow the sign, it’s legit. The hike itself is moderate. The trails leading up to the crest are each about a mile long but they are somewhat difficult due to the steep incline and switchbacks. It took us at least two hours to complete the hike since the dogs were with us. I LOVE that this is a dog friendly hike though, that is one of the reasons why I wanted to go.

This is definitely a fun and enjoyable hike that is a great alternative to the Smoky Mountains. If you are looking for a kid and dog friendly hike near Knoxville then you should check out House Mountain. The views at the top are beautiful and make all your hard work getting there worth it!
