The Look Rock Tower Trail is located on the Foothills Parkway section of the Great Smoky Mountains. This area is a little more off the beaten path as far as hiking goes. The Look Rock Tower Trail is a short, easy hike with fantastic views at the top of the tower. It’s a wonderful hike for all skill levels.
Foothills Parkway is renowned scenic drive in the Smoky Mountains. It’s absolutely gorgeous, especially in the fall when the leaves change. There are plenty of overlooks along the Foothills Parkway that offer picturesque views of the mountains. One of these overlooks is right off of the Look Rock parking lot.
Look Rock Tower Trail In The Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Before you start your hike, you’ll want to check out the Look Rock overlook, which is just a few steps away from the parking lot. This is a great spot to snap a few selfies, group photos, and landscape shots of the mountains.
To get to the Look Rock Tower Trail, walk to the opposite end of the parking lot from the overlook. There is a trailhead sign at the end of the parking lot. You will need to cross the street to start the hike. There is a crosswalk past the trailhead sign and everything is clearly marked.
The trail is completely paved all the way up to the observation tower. It’s 1 mile round trip and will take around 30 minutes to complete. There is a gradual incline all the way to the tower. This is a perfect kid and dog friendly hike in The Smokies.
You will be rewarded with spectacular views once you reach the top of the observation tower. It’s a really great, short hike that is far less crowded than other similar hikes in The Smokies.
