Spending A Day In Seattle
Our Pacific Northwest vacation last year started by spending a day in Seattle. There are so many awesome things to do in Seattle that it is hard to fit it all in one day. I did some research and made a list of things that were interesting to me to hit up during our day in the city. We explored Pike Place Market, walked down Post Alley, saw the Space Needle, and spent the afternoon at the EMP Museum.
The first stop of our day was to visit Pike Place Market. I really enjoyed walking around the market and checking out all the vendors. The area around the market was really nice as well, with lots of shops and restaurants around. Pike Place Market is a must if you visit Seattle!
After exploring Pike Place Market, we took a short walk over to Post Alley to check out the gum wall. It’s a little weird but interesting to check out.
We then stopped in for drinks at The Pike Brewing Company. They offer a lot of craft beer and hard cider options. We were there right at opening since we were still on Eastern time. And we were on vacation, so, who cares if we started drinking before lunch? That’s what you do on vacation. I love that Washington has so many local hard cider options.
So, the next stop was definitely not worth it. We drove out to see The Fremont Troll. It’s basically a sculpture of a troll under a bridge. And it is kind of out of the way, too. I just walked over to it, took a picture, and left. I guess it was nice to drive around and see more of the city but I wouldn’t suggest seeing it.
We headed over to the Space Needle area and stopped in for lunch at a Mexican restaurant nearby.
Our last stop of the afternoon was the EMP Museum. (Which is right next to the Space Needle.) It was a spur of the moment decision to go and I’m really glad we did. We spent a few hours hanging out and looking at all the different exhibits. They had a room where you could learn to play different instruments which was pretty fun. There was also an Indie Game exhibit. And then there were a lot of music and movie prop exhibits.
Our day in Seattle ended by taking the Seattle Ferry across to Bainbridge Island. The ferry ride was actually pretty cool and it offered a great view for some great Seattle skyline photographs.
Overall, Seattle is an awesome city to experience. There are so many things to do. Spending a day in Seattle is definitely not enough time to see everything but I look forward to the next chance I have to be back in the city.
